'Eclipse': Angela Coltri's first album of original songs arrives on digital platforms.

The album EclipseThe first solo work by flautist, composer, improviser, and arranger Angela Coltri is now available on major digital music platforms. The album marks a decisive moment in the trajectory of the São Paulo-born artist, now based in Florianópolis, whose career is on the rise, and invites the public to immerse themselves in a work that unites research, Latin American identity, and creative freedom.

The result of more than eight years of musical research, Eclipse This album brings together eight original compositions that move between choro, samba, Cuban son, Afro-Peruvian rhythms, guarânia, waltzes, and other sonic matrices of the continent. The album synthesizes the research developed by Angela throughout her career and deepened during her professional master's degree in Music at the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA), in which she studied the hybridisms between Brazilian and Latin American genres.

Among the highlights of the repertoire are “Piriguetiando,” an irreverent mix of choro and Cuban son already acclaimed by audiences of the Roda de Choro Mulheril and the Festival Choro Mulheril; “Samba de Fim de Tarde,” which combines samba, funk, and Cuban son; the title track “Eclipse,” composed during a solar eclipse and marked by a strong improvisational element; and “Landozinho,” a result of the artist's immersion in Afro-Peruvian music. The album also features moments of delicacy and affective memory, such as the waltz “Nilce,” a tribute to the composer's grandmother.

Recorded between São Paulo and Florianópolis, Eclipse This project brings together Brazilian and Latin American musicians who have been part of Angela Coltri's personal and artistic journey, in addition to special guests: Aline Gonçalves, flautist, clarinetist, arranger, and composer with a distinguished career in instrumental music and collective projects in Brazil and Latin America; Daniela Spielmann, saxophonist, flautist, arranger, composer, researcher, and teacher with a career full of important and internationally recognized projects; and Eduardo Neves, saxophonist, composer, and arranger, a leading figure in Brazilian wind instruments. The arrangements balance meticulous writing with generous spaces for improvisation, revealing artistic maturity and mastery of the language of contemporary instrumental music.

“The release has brought me so much joy, from the show, which filled the theater with people from different backgrounds, to the performance on streaming platforms, which has been very positive, with a daily increase in plays,” says the artist. “I’ve been receiving messages from people who work with music or not, congratulating me, saying they are listening, enjoying it, what their favorites are, and commenting on how the songs transport them to different places. It’s a new and profound achievement to be able to reach more people with the art I develop even without playing live,” she concludes.

With its arrival on the platforms, Eclipse It broadens its reach and invites listeners from different places to discover a work that celebrates cultural encounters, musical research, and the creative power of contemporary Brazilian instrumental music.
