The original music scene in Greater Florianópolis has been growing every year. One example is Palhoça. In recent years, artists from the city have gained more prominence thanks to the collectives and projects that have traveled the state. Now, four of these bands have joined forces for another project. Launched on Friday (10), the "Pulsa Collection #1” is the starting point for a new collective project that is emerging on the Palhoça scene.

The collection brings together compositions from the bands Yaju and the Hypertensivesoul creamDemorantes e Akanoá. More than that: the release reveals recordings made exclusively for this collective work. These are the tracks “Fabrics”, by Yaju and the Hypertensive; “Robert Johnson”; from Demorantes; “Fumaça”, by Soul Cream and “1/4 colored”, from Akanoá.

The launch is an independent initiative, held at the Octopus SoundBox studio in partnership with the participating bands. It complements and marks the beginning of a larger project, which promises to pulsate amid the urban rhythm of Palhoça. It is the "Pulsa Palhoça - Soundtrack”, an initiative that includes cultural incentive policies and a schedule of in-person and digital activities.

The first of these is the joint publication on the social networks of those involved, with content

several creatives — to check it out, just go to any of the following profiles on Instagram: @yajueohipertensos, @soulcreamofficial, @akanoa.banda and @official delays. In this context, the compilation emerged. And, to crown the project's success, live performances.

"Along with the Pulsa Palhoça - Trilha Sonora project, this collection is one of the initiatives that highlights the city's productions. All the songs in this collection are previously unreleased and were recorded especially for this project," the organization highlights.

Track by track

Published in EP format, the collection opens with “Robert Johnson”, an eclectic composition by Demorantes. The song is inspired by the icon of history blues, Robert Johnson. "It was born from the band's vision of blending elements from different musical styles," emphasizes vocalist Victor Fernandes. "At first, it has a more classic feel to the rhythm, but as the song progresses, it transforms into something else, until it reaches the solo," he states. The lyrics discuss learning from mistakes, among other reflections.

After the four and a half minutes that open the work with a lot of energy, the collection brings the swing of the track “1/4 Colored" by Akanoá. This is a song that was constructed over the years, as narrated by vocalist João Thibes. "Because it's the combination of three pieces of lyrics that emerged at different points in my life. These three sections ended up connecting and forming the entire structure of the song," he argues. "It was interesting because, during the recording, each person was able to contribute an important part, contributing to the song as a whole," he comments.

Next, who promises to rock the listeners is Yaju and Hipertensos, with the song “Fabrics"The song was born from the synergy between the band members. This is what singer Yago Jukowski says. "We used to get together to exchange ideas and there was always a little guitar. From some random chat, a riff by Thiago Rachid. Then, Dierre picked up another guitar and played the lower line. In this mix of melodies, I started singing," he describes. "It's a very meaningful song for us because it talks about our connection," he points out.

In closing, “Fumaça” brings the mixture of rhythms and the swaying groovy by Soul Cream. According to vocalist Dierre Pichorz, "the song is a manifesto for the right to disagree; a cry for acceptance of differences, against the imposition of behavior," he states. This is because, he argues, "it's not necessarily talking about any specific relationship, but rather any type of relationship that has an imposing nature."

Show this Saturday

With the collection released, it’s time to officially begin the project “Pulsa Palhoça - SoundtrackNow, the public will be able to enjoy live music, with free shows in public spaces that are popular in Palhoça.

The first of these will be this Saturday (10/18), at 11 am, at Praça 7 de Setembro, a key location in front of the Laudelino Weiss Cultural Center, right in the center of Palhoça. On that occasion, all the songs that make up the collection will be performed live for the first time since its release.

Credits and realization

The union of the bands Yaju e os Hipertensos, Soul Cream, Demorantes, and Akanoá has already yielded other fruits. These representatives of the Palhoça original music scene have collaborated on previous projects, such as "Recorte — Palhoça na Estrada," which toured several cities in Santa Catarina, and "Aracuã Festival," a show commemorating the 50th anniversary of the iconic Palhostock.

Both at events and in studio sessions, everything is accomplished thanks to the unity and friendship among the members. This is true for "Pulsa Coletânea #1." The work was recorded in the studio. Octopus SoundBox, located in the center of Palhoça. There, the production, mixing and mastering work was carried out by Dierre Pichorz

In turn, the graphic design comes to life on two fronts: the cover is signed by Victor Fernandes; the social media materials were created by Gabriel Fernandes. On social media, the communication strategy was organized by Anderson Oliveira

It is worth noting that the shows of the project “Pulsa Palhoça – Trilha Sonora” are carried out with resources from National Politics Aldir Blanc (Pnab) — Notice 018/2024. The intermediation is by Municipal Foundation of Sports and Culture (Fmec), from Palhoça. "Pulsa Coletânea #1," in turn, is an initiative of Octopus SoundBox, in partnership with partner bands.
