the film club CineSonora will have its fifteenth and final session of the season on November 13th, at 19:30 pm, at the Gilberto Gerlach Cinema at the Centro Integrado de Cultura (CIC), with free admission and tickets distributed on a first-come, first-served basis one hour before the event. To mark this year's farewell, the public will watch the documentary “Dorival Caymmi – Um Homem de Afetos” by Daniela Broitman. The film takes a journey through the creative universe of this iconic singer and composer from Bahia.
Based on an unpublished interview with Dorival, conducted in 1998, and testimonies from his family and great names in MPB, such as fellow countrymen Gilberto Gil and Caetano Veloso, the documentary offers intimate and poetic views on Caymmi and his work, reverberating his influence on the popular imagination and Brazilian music, in movements such as Bossa Nova and Tropicália.
The post-session chat will feature singer and cultural producer Bárbara Damásio as a guest. The opening video clip from Santa Catarina highlights the partnership between the band Tijuquera and Camerata de Florianópolis, in a new version of the song “Cabelos de Sal”. The documentary will be shown with LSE and Libras subtitles on the screen, and a Libras interpreter will be present during the conversation.
The screening of the documentary is part of the film club's partnership with IN-EDIT – International Music Documentary Festival and will feature LSE subtitles on the screen, and a Libras interpreter during the chat. The CineSonora film club is a project contemplated in the Santa Catarina Film Award – Special Edition Paulo Gustavo Law 2023, carried out by Scult Produtora, with the support of the Museum of Image and Sound of Santa Catarina (MIS/SC) and the Santa Catarina Culture Foundation.
