O Africa in Cinema Film Club is one of the university extension activities promoted by Laboratory of Studies in African History (LEHAf) of Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC). The project's general objective is to promote film culture with an emphasis on films by African directors, with African production and filmed in Africa. It aims to promote the artistic and cultural wealth of the African continent through the screening of films and to promote conversations and debates on African film production and also on the representations of Africa in cinema. The meetings are monthly and open to the general public.

Africa in Cinema is curated by Prof. Dr. Sílvio Marcus de Souza Correa (LEHAf/UFSC) and has institutional support from the Alliance Française of Florianópolis and the Museum of Image and Sound (MIS) of the CIC of the FCC.
