20 years after the premiere of one of the biggest teen classics of the 2000s, the film 'Mean Girls: The Musical' gets a new version, which goes on display this week, at Continente Shopping. In a mix of the original script and the Broadway play, the plot follows Cady, a girl raised in the African jungle by zoologist parents in her new life at a school in the United States. To help revenge a new friend, she joins the school's preppy group, led by Regina George. While planning to destroy the girls by pretending to be their friend, Cady tries to balance between maintaining her essence and facing the most dangerous jungle of all: high school.
The film has a renewed cast with some names from the original film, such as Tina Fey, who returns as Professor Norbury, and Tim Meadows, who plays Director Duvall. The main cast includes Angourie Rice, as Cady Heron, Reneé Rapp plays Regina George, Avantika as Karen Shetty, Bebe Wood plays Gretchen Wieners, Christopher Briney will play Aaron Samuels. Cady's friends will be played by Auli'i Cravalho as Janis Ian and Jaquel Spivey as Damian Hubbard. Jeff Richamond, composer and music producer, and Nell Benjamin, musical theater lyricist, wrote the film's soundtrack.
