Intolerance and brutality are aspects of the narrative of the Spanish film 'The Beasts', directed by Rodrigo Sorogoyen. The psychological thriller, winner of nine awards at Goya (Spain's main festival) and best foreign film at César (French cinema's main award), premieres this Thursday, February 8, at Paradigma Cine Arte. The program is available until next Wednesday, February 14th, in the 18:45 pm sessions.
In a city in the interior of Galicia, the film follows the lives of Antoine (Denis Menochet) and Olga (Marina Fois), two French people who sell vegetables to survive. Meanwhile, a middle-aged French couple moves to the village in search of proximity to nature. But the couple's presence bothers the former residents, leading to intolerance and violence.
Other productions are also on display, such as 'Meu Amigo Robô', by Pablo Berger, in the 11am session; 'The Silent Girl', directed by Colm Bairéad, at 14pm; 'Poor Creatures', directed by Yórgos Lánthimos, in the 16pm session; and 'Vidas Passadas', directed by Celine Song, in the 21:25 pm session.
