A box office success, this week's programming at Paradigma Cine Arte promises fun with the comedy “The Best is to Come”, directed by Italian director Nanni Moretti. The work, presented at the 2023 Cannes Festival, has its plot marked by the story of a film director called Giovanni, starring Moretti himself, who is producing a film in Rome in the 1950s. The program will be available until next Wednesday , January 17th, in the 18:40 pm session.
The background is the character Giovanni's need to tell the story of the Italian Communist Party at the time and how he lost the opportunity to break away from the Soviet Union and finally take an independent path. Despite being convinced to make a political film, his actress thinks the film is about love – and she may be right.
What sets the tone of fun in the narrative? The various impediments that complicate the completion of filming: a stubborn actress, tight budget, her own collapsing marriage and her daughter's relationship with an unexpected guy. Always on edge, Giovanni will have to rethink his way of acting and believe that the best is yet to come.
The feature film marks 50 years of Moretti’s career and features a soundtrack composed by Franco Piersanti and directed by Michele D’Attanasio.
The other productions currently on display are: “Dogman”, directed by Luc Besson and shown at 14pm; “Priscilla”, directed by Sofia Copolla, with screenings at 16:20 pm; and “Monster”, a film that won the Best Screenplay award at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival, directed by Kore-eda Hirokazu, with a screening at 20:40 pm. All with daily exhibitions from January 11th to 17th.
On Saturday, January 13th, there will be a special session with a debate on the film “Mirante”, at 10:30 am.
