A Casa Lar Luz do Caminho This Sunday (17), it is holding a charity event to celebrate its 16 years of activity. The initiative aims to raise funds for the maintenance of the institution's activities, which depend mainly on donations.
The event will take place starting at 11:00 AM at the Oceania Park Hotel, and tickets cost R$ 40. The program includes live music, with a performance by the band Bokaum.
Lunch will be prepared by chef Daniele Aquino and will feature the following menu: fish stew, beef risotto, vegetarian risotto, chicken risotto, and side dishes.
The creation of the institution was motivated by a child's request. In 2009, Marcella Virginia dos Santos, then 9 years old, suggested to her father that he help other children in vulnerable situations. The idea gave rise to Casa Lar, founded the following year. Currently, Marcella presides over the organization. Casa Lar Luz do Caminho operates in the area of High Complexity Special Social Protection, sheltering children aged 0 to 8 years who have been removed from their families by court order. The service is provided continuously. Since its founding in 2011, approximately 280 children have passed through the institution, which has the capacity to care for up to 12 children simultaneously.
Currently, approximately 60% of Casa Lar's revenue comes from donations. These resources are used to maintain the facility, which includes housing, food, psychological support, educational assistance, and comprehensive care, as well as the payroll for 22 employees and the support of about 30 volunteers. In addition to fundraising, the institution also seeks support through volunteering and donations of items such as personal hygiene products, clothing, and products for charitable events. There is also a need for professionals in specific areas, such as speech therapy.
