The exhibition 'Philately and Flowers' will open from 10 am on Wednesday, April 24, in the Workshop Room, at the Integrated Culture Center (CIC), in the capital. Artist Lilia Lubia's objective is to reflect on the meaning of communication through philately, the study of postage stamps. Curated by visual artist Meg Tomio Roussenq, the first solo exhibition of the artist's career is unprecedented and presents 38 works. These are paintings on canvas, paper and collage that were developed over the last two years.
In 'Philately and Flowers', Lilia seeks to highlight the process involving flowers and their destiny within philately. According to the curator, the artist's work involved extensive research to formalize and reference the proposed theme. “I want to present philately to the public as a form of communication and highlight its relevance and historicity. Furthermore, it is a tribute to the philatelist and collector for 70 years Sergio Laux, who has been a member of the Sociedade Philatélica Paulista since 1953”, highlights Lilia.
The exhibition can be visited free of charge until May 14, 2024, from 10am to 21pm.
