O Continente Shopping receives in June the exhibition “ROOTS” signed by the art curator and artist from Santa Catarina Jucelia Costa, at Cultural space. In all, 20 works on the theme of ancestry make up the exhibition, which is on display until June 30.

Painted in oil on canvas and acrylic, the pieces portray customs and the age-old fashion for wearing headdresses such as turbans, as well as other Afro-style decoration objects. The artist, coordinator of the Confraria Josefense de Artes Plásticas, Jucelia Costa comments that the RAÍZES collection was inspired by the ancestry of black people and was a tribute to a friend who included the use of a turban in her routine after undergoing cancer treatment. The adornment became an object of study for the artist, who was inspired to bring the works to life.
