The Victor Meirelles Museum is hosting a curricular exhibition on Museology about transgender people.

The auditorium of the Victor Meirelles Museum (Ibram/MinC) will host, from June 10th to 18th, 2026, the curricular exhibition of the Museology course at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC), entitled (TRANS)ITÓRIOS. Produced by the 2026/01 Exhibition Practice class, under the guidance of professors Kimberly Terrany Alves Pires and Thainá Castro Costa, the interactive exhibition proposes a reflection on transgenderism based on the movements of transgender people in the territory of Florianópolis, establishing relationships between body, time, and territory. Admission is free and the exhibition is open from Tuesday to Friday, from 10 am to 18 pm, and on Saturday, from 10 am to 15 pm.

The exhibition design begins with a central object – a double-sided dressing table, a symbol of encounter and dialogue – structuring a circuit that reflects the spiraling time of Leda Maria Martins, where memory and presence coexist. Beyond rescuing memories that have been erased over time, the aim is to create memories and form a safe space for LGBTQIAPN+ people to meet through art and culture. This proposal aligns with the mission of the Victor Meirelles Museum to disseminate, promote, and preserve the historical, artistic, and cultural values ​​of society, stimulating reflection and experimentation in the fields of art, heritage, and contemporary thought, contributing to the expansion of access to diverse cultural expressions.

Talk circle

On June 13th (Saturday), at 13 PM, a discussion circle entitled “Corporalities in Transit – Transgender Identity in the City, in the Media, and in History” will be held, proposing the creation of a space for listening, welcoming, and exchange between people from the trans community, guests, and the public participating in the exhibition. Dialogues will be promoted about trans experiences, challenges, and lived experiences, using collage art as a tool for expression, dialogue, and denunciation of exclusionary social norms. The activity, lasting approximately two hours, will provide certificates to participants.
