The Festa do Divino Espírito of IDES Floripa (Irmandade do Divino Espírito Santo), known as "Divina Festa" takes place in the Center of Florianópolis, from the 16th to the 19th of May. Entry is free.
The event has food stalls, games, drinks, entertainment and many attractions for the whole family. It takes place at Rua Emílio Brum, 124, at the brotherhood’s headquarters.
The Divine Feast maintains the tradition of faith and religiosity, encouraging devotion to the Divine Holy Spirit. In addition, it maintains a pillar of financial support for programs aimed at around 750 children and adolescents in Greater Florianópolis.
The Festa do Divino Espírito Santo had its origins in Portugal, in the town of Alenquer, in 1296, and is a centuries-old tradition brought by the Azoreans who arrived in the old town of Nossa Senhora do Desterro, in 1748.
The celebration begins with the Divine Cycle, before Pentecost, and continues until September of each year.
