The Japanese Association of Santa Catarina is holding the tenth edition of Tanabata Matsuri, the Festival of the Stars.
It occurs in July 11th and 12th, at the Florianópolis Botanical Garden, from 10 am to 17 pm. It is FreeOpen to the public, suitable for the whole family, and outdoors.
Inspired by the love legend between the stars Orihime and Hikoboshi, it celebrates the effort and desires of the heart, as well as Japanese culture.
At the festival, there is a tradition of writing wishes on colorful strips of paper (tanzaku) and tying them to bamboo branches to connect the dreams to heaven.
There will be options for typical cuisine, fairs, workshops and more.
