Born in Porto Alegre, and living in London, England, since 2003, Mirtes dos Santos returns to Florianópolis to launch her first book. “Writings of silence: a diary”, will be launched on Friday, July 26th, starting at 19pm, at the BADESC Cultural Foundation. Entry is free.

“I lived in Florianópolis from 1986 until 2003, when I moved to England. And I’m happy to come back here and present my first book”, shares Mirtes.

The writer highlights that the work is made up of fragments of texts and photographs that tell part of her story, such as childhood memories in the interior of Rio Grande do Sul, everyday scenes when she goes out to work as a cleaner, in addition to adventures, love by his son, and his experiences on the European continent. In the diary, Mirtes invites the reader to a conversation while presenting memories and silences.

“I don't know exactly when literature entered my life, but I have always been attracted to the literary universe and a great reader of books and internal and external landscapes. And now I’ve decided to gather my notes over the years and present them in a book,” she highlights.

With editorial coordination by Patrícia Galelli and graphic design by Tina Merz, “Writings of silence: a diary”, of 165 pages, was published by Editora Nave, in Florianópolis. On the day of the event the book will be on sale.
