Until April 9th, audiences from anywhere will be able to watch almost the entire program of the 4th edition of... Chica Pelega Film Festival - Contemporary MigrationsThe in-person exhibition, in Videira-SC, showcases films from Brazil and 22 other countries until March 19th, at the Euclides da Cunha Library.
The online exhibition expands public access to films produced in different parts of the world, in addition to showcasing productions from Santa Catarina and regional themes, such as the Contestado War. In total, [number] films are being shown online. 115 feature films and short films For adult and child audiences, focusing on the theme of migration and held in Brazil, Germany, Australia, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Spain, France, Honduras, Indonesia, Lebanon, Macedonia, Mexico, Palestine, Peru, Portugal, Qatar, Switzerland, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.

The productions address experiences of displacement and cultural encounters of migrants in different contexts and are divided into five categories:
Contemporary Migrations (Short and Long Films) films that highlight the challenges of adaptation, belonging, and cultural transformation; Student, Productions created in educational activities, including films directed by children; Childhoods on Screen films that present the perspectives, experiences, and sensibilities of children and teenagers; Contested, with four feature films that address the revolts of the First Republic, focusing on the Contestado War (1912–1916), Beira: beyond the banks of the Uruguay River, by Daniela Farina, Piece of Ground, by Elias de Lima, The Memory Line, by Júnior Padilha, and A deal with Lampião? Only at gunpoint!, by Moacir Assunção; and from Santa Catarina, comprised of films shot in Itajaí, Garopaba, Jaraguá do Sul, Florianópolis, Piçarras, Joinville and Maravilha.
The Chica Pelega Film Festival is a production of VMS Produção and Pupilo Digital with support from the Municipality of Videira. This project was awarded the 2023 Santa Catarina Film Prize and executed with resources from the Federal Government and the Paulo Gustavo Law for Cultural Emergency, through the Santa Catarina Cultural Foundation.
