The Victor Meirelles Museum is hosting a special guided tour to celebrate the 194th anniversary of the Santa Catarina-born artist after whom the institution is named. Admission is free.
It will take place this Tuesday, August 18th, lasting one hour, and can be requested from 10 am to 17 pm at the reception. Participants will learn details about the exhibition. Victor Meirelles and historical painting: paths and techniques., which presents the painter's career through thematic sections, bringing together landscapes, portraits, studies, and fragments of historical works.
The activity begins with a presentation of the historic house where Meirelles was born and spent his early years.
The mediation continues with portrait paintings of the royal family, historical paintings, and behind-the-scenes glimpses of major battles.
The event concludes with the creation of a symbolic birthday postcard for Victor Meirelles, in an educational space with videos, games, and other attractions available on the second floor of the Historic House. The facilitator is Bruna Araujo, a visual artist with a postgraduate degree in Curatorship and Museology.
