Have you ever imagined making your own hula hoop? The Bamboleio Bambaleia project will travel through four neighborhoods in Florianópolis and seeks to revive play with free activities, distributing 120 hula hoops. The first action will be on March 31st, at 10:XNUMX am, in Praça da Catedral, in the center of the city. Children and adults can participate in meetings in public spaces.

Developed by friends Laura das Águas and Thais Alemany, the project was included in the 2021 Cultural Support Notice of the Franklin Cascaes Foundation. According to the organizers, who believe in the power of play for the conservation of human beings, the name Bamboleio Bambaleia was born from a play with words from the song by the Gipsy Kings.

“Our idea was to reframe a form of bullying suffered in childhood when they use the name of an animal as a pejorative term, bringing a tribute to the whales that visit us on the Island every year. Thus, we send the message that all bodies can express themselves, move, roll, play and exist without shame”, explain the organizers.
