
The Santa Catarina choir Polyphonia Khoros will present, free of charge, the concert “Polyphonia Canta Edino Krieger” at the Ademir Rosa Theater (CIC), in Florianópolis, on February 19th, at 20:30 pm. The show is a significant tribute to one of the greatest names in Santa Catarina and Brazilian music. The conductor is Guilherme Albanaes.
The choice to present works for choir by Edino Krieger reflects the importance of his musical legacy, which stands out for its versatility and richness of compositional elements.
Born in Brusque, Krieger passed away at the age of 94 in Rio de Janeiro. In addition to being a renowned composer, he also worked as a music critic and cultural producer, contributing extensively to the Brazilian music scene. His vast catalog covers a variety of genres and formats, including works for symphony orchestra, chamber music, oratorios and compositions for choir, demonstrating his ability to engage with different styles and eras.
The show "Polyphonia Canta Edino Krieger" celebrates the work of a fundamental artist and invites the public to explore and value the rich Brazilian musical tradition, reinforcing the importance of music as an element of unity and reflection in society.
The event, which is part of the group's tour of Santa Catarina for the project “Polyphonia Khoros - 22 years”, will be held through the Cultural Incentive Program (PIC), the Santa Catarina Culture Foundation, and the Government of the State of Santa Catarina, with support from Hiperselect, Tirol and Cassol. The general direction is by Mércia Mafra Ferreira and the production is by Joice Della Rocca.
