Santa Catarina Public Library anniversary program

The Santa Catarina Public Library (BPSC), the oldest cultural institution in the state, will celebrate its 171st anniversary on May 31st and, to celebrate, it will be holding a week of special activities open to the public. From May 23rd to 31st, the library will host an exhibition opening, dance performance, discussion groups, workshops, book launches, a literary soiree, a book club and much more.

23/5 (Friday):

17h: Opening of the exhibition "writing the days", in the entrance hall.
- Dance with poetry - Primeiros Passos Dance Company, in the auditorium.

24/5 (Saturday):

10h: Presentation of the play "Ilha dos Manezinhos", in the auditorium.

26/5 (Monday):

15h: Discussion circle with illustrators Eliane, André Neves and Paulo Backe, in the auditorium.

27/5 (Tuesday):

9am and 14pm: Art workshop for children, with artist Tibá, at Espaço Maker.
17h: Launch of the book "A dor de Ruth", by Raquel Conti, in the entrance hall.

28/5 (Wednesday):

15h: Launch of the book "Wash, Washerwoman, on the CACHOEIRA stone", by Priscila Freitas, in the auditorium.

29/5 (Thursday):

14h: Literary workshop on the book "The journey, the contest and the vacilo", with the author Ana Esther, in the auditorium. 
19h: Discussion circle on the theme "Successful Longevity", with psychologist and psychogerontologist Andréa Silveira, in the auditorium.

30/5 (Friday):

15h: Literary gathering with academies and literary associations, in the entrance hall.
19h: Seinenkai Yuuai Book Club, in the auditorium. 

31/5 (Saturday):

10h: Launch of the poetry e-book of the BPSC Literary Contest 170 (2024), in the entrance hall.
- Café com Prosa: traveling soiree, with poetry, music, storytelling, dance and much more, in the entrance hall.
- Presentation of the play "João and the Beanstalk", by Grupo Independente, directed by Valdir Dutra, in the auditorium.
15h: Chat with architect Moysés Liz about BPSC Architecture, in the entrance hall.
15h: Origami Friends Meeting in Florianópolis, at the Maker Space. 
- Meeting with Haikai, on the 1st floor. 
- Last day of visiting the exhibition "BPSC 170 years", in the entrance hall.
