Florianópolis will host RetroSC, an event where the new and the old meet, at the SESC Cacupé Hotel, on Saturday, November 15th, from 09 am to 19 pm.
The event brings together collectors, retailers, exhibitors, game developers, developers of old and current systems, as well as sellers of classic video games and computers, with equipment, software and games from other eras.
Among the highlights are the Odyssey 1, the world's first commercially released video game console; the Vectrex, a console that will be on display for the first time in Santa Catarina; and the Portátil Game Expo, a large collection of portable video games from São Paulo.
In addition, there will be an exhibition celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Commodore Amiga family of computers and a musical show featuring famous game themes from various eras.
In addition to playing, buying, selling, or trading classic items from the 70s, 80s, 90s, and 2000s, participants can take part in tournaments, with trophies for the top finishers.
Ticket sales
The event has a philanthropic purpose, meaning that the products collected will be donated to a charity.
Therefore, admission is social, with tickets sold on Sympla. Half-price tickets are available for everyone, upon presentation of 1kg of non-perishable food or 1L of long-life milk per person.
However, there is an option for tickets without a food donation. Children under 12 years old do not pay.
The gym is air-conditioned and features ample parking and a food court with various food trucks available for purchase separately.
Personalities and competitions
There will also be a quiz tournament where teams will test their knowledge of video games.
In addition, various characters from the world of video games will be honored by the participants of the Cosplay contest, with prizes for the best costumes.
Several gaming personalities will also be present, such as Tiozão (Casa do VideoGame and Retrocon), Eric Fraga (Cosmic Effect), Ed (Aperte Start), and others. Channels and YouTubers, such as Central Pixel, Maddrugamers, DetonaBits, Fliperama de Boteco, and Vida de Duo, will be covering the event.
Additionally, independent game developers and small studios will also be present, allowing the public to play, test, and chat with the programmers and creators of the games.
