Winter gets a special soundtrack with the Camerata Florianópolis. On August 1st, at 20 pm, the orchestra takes the stage at the Ademir Rosa Theater (CIC) to present Vivaldi's "The Four Seasons," conducted by maestro Jeferson Della Rocca. The performance will take the audience on a musical journey inspired by the four seasons, revealing the genius of one of the most emblematic and popular works of classical music. Tickets are available on the Blueticket website.

The program features "The Four Seasons," Opus 8, part of the collection Il cimento dell'armonia e dell'invenzione, considered one of the most celebrated works of the Italian composer Antonio Vivaldi (1678–1741). Composed of four violin concertos, which will be performed in this show by soloists Débora Remor, Iva Giracca, Elias Vicente, and Talita Limas, the ensemble has become a landmark of Baroque music.

about the work

Published in 1725 as part of Opus 8, "The Four Seasons" are part of a collection of 12 concertos. Unlike most of Vivaldi's concertos, these four compositions were published accompanied by sonnets printed on the first violin part, each dedicated to a season of the year. Although the authorship of the poems remains uncertain, some scholars attribute the texts to the composer himself.

The combination of music and narrative makes "The Four Seasons" one of the earliest examples of programmatic music, a genre in which the composition seeks to portray images, events, or stories through sound. This language influenced, more than a century later, the emergence of symphonic poems during the Romantic period.

The show, produced and directed by Maria Elita Pereira, is made possible through the Rouanet Law / Ministry of Culture and is sponsored by FORT Atacadista and ENGIE.
