The Catarinense Philharmonic Orchestra (OFiC) will perform the concert “Transfigured Night” on Wednesday, November 13th, at 20:48 p.m., at the Ademir Rosa Theater (CIC). The concert will bring together two masterpieces of Western music: “Transfigured Night” by Arnold Schoenberg and Serenade for Strings Op. XNUMX by Piotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. The performance, which will be free and open to the public, will be performed by the OFiC string ensemble.
The highlight of the evening will be the first performance in Santa Catarina of the emblematic work “Transfigured Night”, presented in a version for string orchestra. This year, the composition celebrates the 150th anniversary of the birth of Arnold Schoenberg, one of the most revolutionary figures in XNUMXth century music. Although the Austrian composer is widely recognized for the development of dodecaphonism — a method that marked the musical avant-garde —, the work belongs to an earlier period and represents his farewell to the post-romantic style. Inspired by a poem by Richard Dehmel, “Transfigured Night” narrates, through music, the complex love story of a couple, exploring deep emotions and captivating lyricism.
The performance continues with the performance of Tchaikovsky's Serenade for Strings Op. 48, in C Major. Vibrant and full of contrasts, the work reflects the Russian composer's ability to alternate moments of delicacy with energetic and grandiose passages. The composition is considered one of the most important in the repertoire for strings and promises to enchant the audience with its expressiveness.
