Free blues shows at Shopping Itaguaçu

O Shopping Itaguaçu invites Augusto Bon Vivant to lead the musical programming of the Itaguaçu + Música project in celebration of Blues month. The rhythm, originating in the deep South of the United States, developed from roots in African musical traditions, spirituals and traditional music in the late 19th century.

The presentations will begin on Saturday, the 17th, from 18pm to 21pm, in the food court on Floor L1. And on Sunday, the 18th, from 18pm to 21pm, in the food court on Floor L2. With references that include Blues, Folk and Country, the artist also features original songs. Both presentations are free and open to the public.

Blues is a musical genre that originated in African-American communities and is characterized by its twelve-bar structure and expressive lyrics that often address themes of sadness and overcoming, creating a distinct melodic effect. Instruments such as guitar, harmonica and piano are common in performances, which influenced several other musical genres, including jazz, rock and R&B. Its cultural and emotional impact made the style a fundamental pillar in the history of music. In Brazil, it began to gain popularity in the 1970s and 1980s, mainly with Celso Blues Boy, who was inspired by North American legends such as BB King, Muddy Waters and Robert Johnson.

The Itaguaçu + Music Project honors and promotes local artists curated by Chris Ribeiro. For more information, check out Shopping Itaguaçu’s social networks.
