The Victor Meirelles Museum (Ibram/MinC) will host a cultural and educational event for participants of the Rodamundo project – a Portuguese language course for immigrants and refugees from the Portuguese as a Welcoming Language Center of the Federal University of Santa Catarina (NEPLAc/UFSC). On June 20th and 27th, from 10 am to 12 pm, participants will take a guided tour of the exhibition. Victor Meirelles and historical painting: paths and techniques. and will participate in the collage workshopPoetic Propositions"The initiative honors World Refugee Day (June 20th) and National Immigrant Day (June 25th)."
Led by visual artist Bruna Araújo, who holds a postgraduate degree in Curatorship and Museology and is one of the curators of the current exhibition, the guided tour will be fully adapted to the audience, using language that is understandable and appropriate to the linguistic profile of the participants. The trajectory of the Santa Catarina-born artist Victor Meirelles will be presented through thematic sections that bring together landscapes, portraits, studies, and fragments of historical works belonging to the museum's collection.
The workshop "Poetic Propositions," led by visual artist Gustavo Henrique Scheidt, will explore collage as an artistic language and poetic process. The activity will promote reflections on memory, identity, displacement, and belonging, establishing dialogues between contemporary artistic productions and migratory experiences.
