'Mundo Passaritoss' report presents data on the physical and psychomotor development of children | Guia Floripa

Report from 'Mundo Passaritoss' presents data on the physical and psychomotor development of children.

Learning through play is good for the physical and mental health of preschool children. This is confirmed by data compiled by “Bird World”, studio of Greater Florianópolis that has already been answered approximately 200 students Over the past two years, the initiative resulted in a report on the development of these children. The survey was conducted again in 2025, and the new study will be completed within a few weeks. Positive results are expected.

The methodology was applied in a playful and colorful space. The studio is the setting for activities that invite children to reimagine their daily lives, as well as to move their bodies and minds. This place of fun and learning is located in the Aririú da Formiga neighborhood, in Palhoça, next to... Formiguinhas Early Childhood Education Center (CEI).

In this creative environment, the children at CEI participate in classes that offer adventures, with safety and expert guidance. In addition to educational lessons, the children learn climbing, athletics, balance exercises, and much more. All of this is taught by educator Jean Garcia dos Santos, always accompanied by a teacher.

Throughout the months, various tests are administered to the students served. The results form the basis of the project reports. And, after two school years, Mundo Passaritoss is about to present parents with unprecedented data on the physical and psychomotor development of these children.

The 2025 document involved two data collection periods. It is now in the final stages of preparation. According to Professor Jean Garcia, "the study provides an important overview of health and neuroplasticity in early childhood, with data collected throughout the classes," he argues.

The initiative

The "Mundo Passaritoss" studio emerged as an initiative of Guarani Sport, a company with over 25 years in the educational market and the creator of several projects such as the "Cultivate Program", The "Junior's Class" it's the "Movement School Project".

The space was designed to invite children to unleash their imagination, with educational lessons and creative play. These classes were planned by the team at [company name]. Guarani Sportincluding professors Denise Paludo, Manoel Vieira, Benhur Sperotto, Marcos Antonio Fari Júnior and Djeniffer Vasques; mechanical engineer Greg Luiz; editorial manager Joana Vicente; economist Marcos Fernando Luiz, in addition to the psychomotor coordination of a specialized consultancy.

The person who applies these activities when teaching classes at Mundo Passaritos is Professor Jean Garcia dos Santos. He is a physical education teacher, specializing in psychomotor skills, and registered with the Regional Council of Physical Education of Santa Catarina (Cref/SC).

Jean has over ten years of experience in early childhood education and is also a former handball coach; he is the key figure in applying the studio's methodology. He helped design this space for learning and fun. All this effort is paying off: the reports show positive indicators with each new survey.

Assertive methodology

The teaching methodology used in "Mundo Passaritoss" is structured by age groups and divided into three thematic units, with a specific intervention protocol for each group. This work results in different indicators of progress, according to the students' ages.

For children aged 2 to 4, the main focus is on "Neuropsychomotor Stimulation," with themes such as muscle tone, balance, and senses. For children aged 5 and 6, the methodology is Psychomotor Stimulation and Pre-sports 1, aiming to expand their motor repertoire and basic skills.

The intervention for children aged 7 and 8 utilizes Pre-sports II, which aims to expand the repertoire associated with individual and team sports. Finally, children aged 9 to 12 work on Universal Sports Initiation, with Sports Practice as the central theme.

The studio focuses on children aged 2 to 12, a critical period for development. Professor Jean emphasizes the importance of working with neurodivergent children. He highlights the progress of students with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). "This care for neurodivergent children is super important and helps them experience the world in their own way: engaging their senses and moving around," he explains.

Report results

For the 2024 report, 74 children were evaluated. The project involved 96 educational interventions at the Early Childhood Education Center (CEI) and 320 classes at Mundo Passaritoss. For children aged 2 to 3 years, weight, height, and Body Mass Index (BMI) were assessed; for those aged four to five years, the analysis focused on BMI and Psychomotor Battery (BPM).

The report highlighted important advances. In the BPM (Basic Performance Model), the "Good" profile (22 to 18 points) increased from 1 to 12 children; the "Normal" level (17 to 12 points) saw 8 out of 16 students progressing to "Good"; and the "Dyspraxic" level (11 to 9 points) decreased from 2 to 1. BMI assessments also improved: among three-year-olds, cases requiring attention decreased from 5 to 2; and among the 34 five-year-olds, cases decreased from 5 to 3.

Families confirmed the results. “Creativity” (68,12%) and “Affection” (63,77%) had the highest rates of “Much Improved”. Even “Balance”, the aspect with the lowest percentage, registered a significant increase: 42,03%. The expectation is to repeat these positive results in 2025.
