The sunny summer weekend brought a hundred tourists to the island in search of beaches, sports, leisure, good food and parties. And there was something for everyone. It's just that our trade needs to prepare for the holidays on the calendar. Mainly the staff of bars and restaurants giving more gas in the kitchen and hiring more waiters for better service. On the shores of Lagoa da Conceição and Barra da Lagoa, for example, in search of good prices and the star of the season, lines formed to taste the various mullet-based recipes. And the dishes took a while to get to the tables. It could be avoided if they were prepared with more structure.

Access to restaurants on the Barra da Lagoa canal, in Fortaleza, was congested on the weekend. At midday, I didn't go forward or backward and everyone was looking for seafood with a stuffed mullet. A traffic guard was also sought after on the Island. It looks like the mullet... it's endangered.

The islet has long defined warm autumn days as “May summer”. Because this year, and increasingly with the climatic differences, we had the summer in June. And many fishermen confirming that the winter will be dry. As a result, a soggy summer.

The island's fishermen even celebrate with the mullet bids that have been taking place here and there. But the truth is that they already feel in their pocket the investments they made for the season that has just two more weeks. With the sun high and at 25 degrees the mullet does not touch.

Regardless, the 21st Casa do Tero Mullet Festival will take place next Saturday. That's when many friends and would-be chefs invade the residence of the couple Tero Cavallazzi and Maristela Amorim to present new recipes from the star of the season.

In the second year with the absence of the late dentist Aderbal Alcântara, the organizers of the Casa do Tero Mullet Festival will honor the chef who also won three trophies. A plaque “Mocó do Deba” will be affixed in a corner of the house where the “director used to meet”.

Children's Cinema

This Tuesday is the Youth Session day at the 14th Children's Film Festival in Florianópolis, in the Fiesc auditorium, at 9 am and 14 pm, each with a different selection of short films. In the morning there will be six films, among which is “Marina does not go to the beach”, a fiction by Cássio Pereira dos Santos from Minas Gerais. Another film is “A Visita”, by Rio de Janeiro director Leandro Corinto, which will be in the second session, with five more films.
