Elderly Caregiver

O Elderly Caregiver is a professional who cares for the well-being of active or frail elderly, providing hygiene care, in addition to helping with meals. The professional also collaborates in the development of physical, psychological and recreational activities according to the guidance of higher education professionals in the health area, being able to identify the main characteristics of the different stages of aging.

The Caregiver answers at home, Long-term Institutions and Elderly Associations, working in close relationship with health professionals, being prohibited from acting in procedures that are not their legal attribution.

Legislation: profession covered by the CBO/MT. The National Health Policy for the Elderly, approved by Ordinance 1.395/GM, of December 10, 1999.
