Exhibition celebrates Hassis' centenary with previously unseen works at the Santa Catarina Historical Museum | Floripa Guide

Exhibition celebrates Hassis' centenary with previously unseen works at the Santa Catarina Historical Museum.

The second exhibition of the Hassis 100 Years project will open this Saturday (25), at 10:30 am, at the Santa Catarina Historical Museum, in the Cruz e Sousa Palace, in Florianópolis. With free admission, “Between the Instant and Eternity” brings together 18 works from the Hassis Foundation collection, including works never before presented to the public.

Curated by Luciana Paulo Corrêa and Monique Fonseca, the exhibition presents paintings created on different media, such as canvas, kraft paper, and plastic. Approximately 80% of the selected works are being shown for the first time in exhibitions and reveal different moments and themes from the artist's career, such as Florianópolis, Carnival, and religiosity.

Among the highlights is "South Wind and Rain," from 1957, considered a symbolic work of Hassis's production. The exhibition is not retrospective in nature and seeks to highlight the relevance and diversity of the work of the artist from Santa Catarina in the year that marks the centenary of his birth.
