Artist Tercília dos Santos presents her exhibition "Black heritage in Brazilian culture" until June 16 at the Lindolf Bell Room at the Integrated Cultural Center (CIC). The opening night, starting at 19:30 pm, will feature a show made up of Afro-Brazilian articles. Admission is free with visitation from Tuesday to Sunday, from 10am to 21pm.
Tercília dos Santos was born in Piratuba (SC), considered one of the greatest representatives of naive painting in the country. In the exhibition, she will present unpublished canvases that portray her childhood memories in the interior of Santa Catarina.
The exhibition highlights manifestations of black culture throughout Brazil, especially in rural communities, through naive painting that is characterized by the intuitive use of color, without academic formalisms.
The canvases portray everything from festivals to cooking, from religiosity to folklore, from farming to female protagonism, which is remarkable in community activities in the countryside. All framed by the colorful flowers and countryside, punctuated by birds and farm animals.
