Personal experiences related to being a woman, madness and hysteria are some of the inspirations of artist Laís Mazzucco for the exhibition “Essay on Delusion”, which will open on Friday, June 13, at the Espaço Oficinas do Centro Integrado de Cultura (CIC), in Florianópolis. Admission is free and the opening starts at 19 pm.
The artist, who will hold her first solo exhibition at the CIC, says that the project began to be conceived in 2023 and that during the production of the images she was able to incorporate, through photoperformance, the figure of the mad woman in disconcerting scenarios. And this proved to be a mechanism for sanity.
The curator of the exhibition, Lucila Horn, highlights that in the artist's process, madness is treated as a deviation, which emerges as a symptom of the continuous pressures and the demand for constant annihilation of subjectivity. And all of this can be seen in the 12 photographs that make up the exhibition.
The exhibition, which is also co-curated by Antonio Pfützenreuter dos Reis and supported by the Center for Studies in Photography and Art – NEFA and the Pfützenreuter dos Reis Collection, can be visited until July 13. Visits to the Espaço Oficinas, located in the Integrated Culture Center (CIC), at Av. Gov. Irineu Bornhausen, 5600, Agronômica neighborhood, in Florianópolis, can be made from Tuesday to Sunday, from 10 am to 21 pm.
