This is the work "Memories of a Contemporary Benzedeira - From Insanity to the Sacred", signed by Camila Gomes
For a long time, blessing was the only resource for those who did not have access to health services. It was up to the healers to utter their well-sayings to evoke healing of the body and spirit. In Florianópolis, this traditional knowledge was not lost. And to value this tradition, Camila Gomes wrote “Memoirs of a Contemporary Benzedeira – From Insanity to the Sacred“. THE book is in the crowdfunding phase for publication via “Apoise-se” platform and receives contributions until the 21st of October.
The book presents an account of autobiographical experiences of his trajectory. In your process of self-healing, over almost two decades, the author experienced different religions, became a mother, a popular educator, graduated in Psychology and became a holistic therapist until becoming an autonomous healer.
Camila Gomes is 41 years old and the youngest among those mapped by the project “As benzedeiras de Florianópolis: inventorying knowledge”. The survey carried out by a team of social scientists was supported by the Elisabete Anderle public notice to encourage culture in 2019, in recognition of this practice, which is an intangible heritage of the island.
