Carmen Ballet Suite

An extremely popular piece from the classical repertoire that deeply defines the Spanish soul, Suite do Ballet Carmem is an opera written by Georges Bizet in 1873/74 based on the novel of the same name by French writer Prosper Mérimeé.

Camerata Florianópolis and Associação Cultural Arte.Dança present the Ballet Carmen Suite at Teatro Ademir Rosa, a version that will feature guest dancers and the association's corps de ballet. Conductor will be by conductor Jefferson Della Rocca.

An iconic character in the opera universe, Carmen is a courageous and seductive woman who values ​​freedom and is punished for her actions because she lives in a backward and sexist world.

The story told in Bizet's work takes place in Seville, in the region of Andalusia, in a square where the gypsy Carmen and the deserter soldier Don José star in a plot of love and jealousy that also involves the bullfighter Escamilo.
