The D'Agronomia house is a mixed colonial style building from the 50s. It has a garden that houses specimens of fig, brazilwood, pine, eucalyptus and coconut trees in an area of 50.000 meters covered in lawn and surrounded by stone walls gross, located between Rui Barbosa and Beira-mar Norte avenues.
The house was built by the State Works Department (today the Department of Buildings and Hydraulic Works, DEOH). It is a hybrid of Portuguese-Brazilian architecture, added with Spanish colonial characteristics. Construction began in 1952 and ended in 1954, being inaugurated at the beginning of 1955 by Governor Irineu Bornhausen.
Since then, the Palácio da Agronômica has been the official residence of the Governor of the State of Santa Catarina. It has been occupied by 14 Governors, before the current administration. The families of the following governors of Santa Catarina have resided at the Palácio da Agronomia:
