Built by the Brotherhood of the Divine Holy Spirit, the work has its history linked to that of the Orphan Asylum. That's because the Asylum was one of the goals of the Brotherhood.
In 1900, the Parish of Nossa Senhora do Desterro committed to donating the land as long as the Brotherhood built the building. Thus, in 1909 the Chapel was ready and, in 1910, the Asylum.
Marked by the colorful stained glass windows, the chapel is very popular for celebrating weddings. At the end of May, the Festa do Divino Espírito Santo takes place in Praça Getúlio Vargas, in front of the Church.
