in the north of the island
In the north of the island there are three beaches suitable for surfing: Brava, English e saint. Brava has a full sandy bottom (beach break), breaking waves with good formation from 1 to 8 feet, that is, from half a meter to two and a half meters, with good formation to both sides (right and left). The swells are east and south and provide good conditions. Offshore winds, which are the winds that provide the quality of the wave, range from northwest to southwest. As for the Ingleses, it is a beach with bay-like characteristics, which greatly hinders the entrance of waves on the beach. Therefore, only the north corner of the beach, next to the coast, on the left, offers good conditions for surfing, even though it is very limited. The waves there, vary from 1 to 6 feet, that is, it is a beach break. O swell (offshore storm - swell) is from the east; Ooffshore is from south, southwest and west.
As for Santinho beach, it is considered by surfers to be the best north beach of Santa Catarina Island. With waves that vary from 1 to 8 feet on big days, it receives swell from both quadrants, south and east. The wave formation is very good to the left and right; the quality is also almost identical, with offshore winds on the beach from north to southwest.

in the east of the island
In the east of the island we have the Mozambique beach. With 12,5 km of fully surfable length, it also receives waves from the two main quadrants: east and south, breaking waves that vary from 1 to 10 feet - 3 meters, on bigger days. It is a beach with a good bottom that holds big swells. Terrais also run from north to southwest. It is considered a refuge for surfers fleeing the crowd.
A Galheta beach, also to the east, is ideal for those who like to catch good tubes. With very perfect and tubular wave characteristics, they range from 1 to 10 feet. Offshore winds also range from the north to southwest quadrant and swells, the swell, enters from the two quadrants, south and east. Neighbor of Galheta is aa soft beach, one of the main points of the Island. Maybe it's the only beach where surfers don't run the risk of finding the sea flat, that is, no wave. With waves that break from 1 to 10 feet as well, it provides exceptional conditions in its right corner, reaching 12 feet on large sea days, strong southern swells in winter. The waves break on both sides, right and left, with good formation on both sides, and the offshore winds are from north to southwest. O swell enters from south and east easily. Anyway, it is a beach that has a lot of quality, with waves breaking on both sides, with a good bottom and good consistency. already the Joaquina beach, stage of major international events, has perfect waves especially on east swell days and northeast wind. The left side of the beach, behind Pedra da Careca, next to the coast, is considered the Maracanã of surfing. The sandbar holds the swell, making the waves break with good formation, reaching 1 to 10 feet easily. The middle of the beach also provides very good waves, of great quality.

in the south of the island
In the south of the Island there are 5 beaches for good surfing: Morro das Pedras, butcher, Lagoinha do Este e shipwrecked. The only ripple that makes the Campeche overcoming any beach comes from the south quadrant. It is a wave that breaks in front of the Island and has no comparison with any other in the city. This feature usually appears in winter because, when it gets very cold, it is easier to have swells from the south quadrant, and the only swell that gives waves in Campeche is coming from the south quadrant. The land can be from west to southwest or calm, which is windless. It's a difficult condition to get on the island and when it does, you'll find hundreds of surfers in the water, as it's a very popular wave when it breaks. The middle of the beach also provides waves from the east quadrant, although they are not very good.
Morro das Pedras beach is another excellent option, but not very consistent. It is necessary to have a southern swell to break perfectly behind the rocks. When the bottom is good behind the rocks and the swell is from the south it is very easy to catch "high waves" on that beach, a heavy wave that varies from 2 to 8 feet on the best days. The good swell is from the south with wind from the southwest and west quadrant. The sea is strong, with a lot of current and is not suitable for beginners. As for Matadeiro beach, it is ideal for those looking for short waves, with good formation and high quality. In addition, Matadeiro also provides good tubes, both in the middle and in front of the rocks. Normal condition ranges from 2 to 6 feet, with swell from the east and offshore winds from the south quadrant. On the other hand, Lagoinha do Leste, a true a surf trip, as you can only go on foot or by boat, it receives strong swells from the south quadrant and the east quadrant, breaking from 2 to 10 feet as well. The offshore winds, depending on the side of the beach, can be from north to southwest. It's a place to relax, do some different surfing, with lots of adventure and tranquility.
The beach at Farol de Naufragados is another one, as well as Lagoinha do Leste, ideal for those who prefer to enjoy nature in all its immensity. Located at the southern end of the island, it is a beach with very strong waves and currents. Strong waves that enter from the south quadrant and the offshore wind is northeast. When the sea is in the south quadrant, with the wind blowing, northeast, Farol dos Naufragados beach is a great option. The waves also break there from 2 to 8 feet, and the best season for this location is winter and autumn.
As for the wind and the ripple
Florianópolis is one of the few places that has wind from all quarters. According to those most knowledgeable on the subject, the south and west winds are the cold season winds, autumn and winter, and the north, northeast and east winds are the warm season winds, spring and summer. Surfing does not depend on the wind, but on the swell, on the swell. The best waves for the island are from the east, which brings the best quality waves, in seasons such as spring and summer.
