Michel Poiccard, a criminal obsessed with actor Humphrey Bogart, steals a car, kills a policeman and goes to Paris, where he meets Patricia Franchini, a beautiful American girl who sells newspapers on the Champs-Élysées. Poiccard tries to persuade her to run away with him to Italy, without telling her that he is a fugitive from justice.
