Confined to his apartment after breaking his leg, professional photographer LB Jeffries (James Stewart) spends his time watching neighbors through the back window of his apartment. Jeff suspects that a neighbor may have murdered his wife and enlists the help of his girlfriend Lisa Carol Fremont (Grace Kelly) and his nurse to investigate the case.
