In 1970s Los Angeles, a social worker raising her two children alone after being left a widow begins to see similarities between a case she is investigating and the supernatural entity La Llorona. Legend has it that in life, La Llorona drowned her children and then threw herself into the river, bursting into tears. Now she cries endlessly, capturing other children to replace her children.
