Draft Beer

Brazil's predominantly hot climate, combined with the beaches of Florianópolis, provides the ideal setting for beer lovers, preferably cold. The drink is prepared like beer, with the difference that draft beer does not go through the pasteurization process.

To better enjoy it, without losing its original flavor, there are some tips that can be followed: the collar, unwanted by some, is essential to maintain the temperature and prevent the ambient heat from interfering with the drink, the recommended one is the famous three collar fingers (or three centimeters); the glass must be washed with neutral soap and running water so that grease residues do not alter the flavor; beer coolers and all their parts must undergo asepsis and maintenance processes periodically; Once opened, a barrel of draft beer lasts 48 hours, in cold storage it can stay for up to 12 days.

Curiosity: The name comes from the German Shoppen, which means half-liter glass, and was known in Portuguese as draft beer. There are records that the Egyptians had been producing it for over 3000 years, but it was only in 1839, in the city of Pilsen, in the Czech Republic, that the drink as we know it – clear, smooth and light – originated. In Brazil, draft beer only appeared with the arrival of the Portuguese royal family, in 1808, with the first production in 1836.

Harmonization: They basically follow the same rules as beer. Draft beer like Pilsen and Weiss, as well as beer, goes best with light dishes, such as white meats, pastas, starters and salads. Ale and porter are recommended to accompany heavier dishes, such as red meat and spicy foods.

The Floripa Guide recommends some places in the city to have a cold beer.
