This Tuesday there is a national show at DeRaiz with the musician Tiao Carvalho. An expert connoisseur of the rhythms of the land, in 2001 Tião Carvalho launched his solo career with his first album, entitled When you sleep Alcantara. In this album, Tião Carvalho interprets songs by himself and other composers from Maranhão. With the track that gave the album its name, Tião Carvalho was a finalist at the Festival promoted by TV Globo. In his second album, Tião Canta João (2006), Tião Carvalho recorded compositions by the master and fellow countryman João do Vale. This work received two awards from Rádio Universidade FM, from Maranhão, in the categories “best album of the year” and “best performer”, for Tião Carvalho. The same record was nominated for the London Burning Award for Independent Music.
