Museums in Florianopolis

Known as Magic Island for the charm that its beaches, climate and natural beauty exert on those who live in or visit the city, Florianópolis has many stories to tell. At this point, museums have a prominent role, as each one, in its own way, deals with a heritage that expresses the facets of a people molded in a multicultural melting pot.

These are spaces dedicated to the memory of illustrious characters, the arts, politics, religiosity, war development, popular demonstrations, the history of primitive man or the personal desire to bequeath to the city collections formed for a lifetime.

Most of these spaces are managed by the public power, such as museums. History of Santa Catarina, of Art of Santa Catarina (Men), of Image and Sound (MIS), of Archeology and Ethnology, of Arms Major Lara Ribas, of trash, of the Santa Catarina Judiciary e of the Nativity scene, in addition from the Ethnographic House of the Azores. The latter, in Biguaçu, in Greater Florianópolis, houses an important collection on the development and preservation of Azorean culture in Santa Catarina.

Others were born from private initiatives, such as museums Sacred of the Chapel of the Child God, Ecomuseum, Hassis and the Eli Heil's Egg World.
