Ribeirão da Ilha Ecomuseum

The Ribeirão da Ilha Ecomuseum is a traditional house in Vila do Ribeirão da Ilha, which was built on the initiative of Professor Nereu do Vale Pereira, a great researcher of Azorean Culture. The Museum has an eclectic collection, linked to the colonization of the Island of Santa Catarina and particularly to the parish of Ribeirão da Ilha. The Museum has a very diverse collection. Firstly, because of the ecosystem present around the property, which contains an afforestation full of cataloged native plants, some very rare and almost extinct. In addition, the museum has a collection of more than a thousand pieces, including implements and objects of various sizes, shapes, purposes and utilities. However, they all concern the Azorean people of the south of the island of Santa Catarina. See all the details in our special about the Ribeirão da Ilha Ecomuseum.
