Exhibition “Belmondo, the Magnificent” at Paradigma Cine Arte

A Shows “Belmondo the Magnificent”, which honors actor Jean-Paul Belmondo, will feature four classics at the Paradigm Cine Arte, between the 6th and 12th of January. The event is a partnership with the  Institut Français, French Embassy in Brazil, French Embassy Cinematheque and French Alliance Florianopolis. 

In addition, two unpublished films are showing: "We two", directed by Filippo Meneghetti, with sessions at 14:20 pm and 18:20 pm, and "Azor", directed by Andreas Fontana, with sessions at 16:20 pm.

The Eleven O'clock Demon, by Jean-Luc Godard - January 06th and 09th at 20:30 pm.
Synopsis: Ferdinand Griffon is a Spanish language teacher married to an Italian. He's been a little disillusioned because he's just lost his television job. One night, the couple goes to a bourgeois party at the house of friends. But to attend the social event, they needed someone to take care of the children. So they decide to hire young Marianne as a nanny. After a disappointing night, Ferdinand returns home, finds Marianne and tries to win her over. The next day, the new couple flees towards the South, where they become involved in arms trafficking and political conspiracies. Based on the book Obsession by Lionel White.

The Man from the River, by Philippe de Broca - January 07th and 10th at 20:30 pm.
Synopsis: Pilot Adrien Dufourquet gets a week off and plans to meet his girlfriend Agnès in Paris. Upon arriving, he comes across a band of South American Indians who kidnap the girl. They think the young woman knows where the statues are that would lead them to a fabulous treasure. Adrien follows the bandits to the Amazon Jungle and experiences a series of dangers when trying to rescue Agnès.

Technique of a Whistleblower, by Jean-Pierre Melville - January 08th and 12th at 20:30 pm.
Synopsis: Fresh out of prison, Maurice plans a robbery together with his friend Silien. The partner, however, betrays him to the police, who prevent the robbery and injure Maurice. Recovered, he orchestrates a plan to exact revenge.

Leon Morin, The Priest, by Jean-Pierre Melville  - January 11, at 20:30 pm.
Synopsis: During World War II, widow Barny, an atheist, sends her half-Jewish daughter to live on a farm before the Germans invade the city. When she discovers that her boss's brother has been sent to a concentration camp for being Jewish, she decides to baptize her daughter in the Catholic religion and thus gets close to Father Léon, for whom she ends up feeling a great attraction.
