Mix of dance with fight, Capoeira has its origin in Africa, brought to Brazil by slaves as a form of defence. To the rhythmic and well-marked sound of the berimbau, caxixi, atabaque, tambourine and reco-reco, two participants rehearse synchronized choreographies, swinging legs, arms, hands, feet, head and shoulders. The repertoire includes coordinated kicks and pirouettes, full of waddle and malice.
