Course on Brazilian Popular Music

The course "Origins and transformations of Brazilian Popular Music: a psychoanalytic listening”, taught by psychoanalyst Raul Hartke, will address the consensus among experts that Brazilian Popular Music was born from the paganization of certain religious rituals practiced in Brazil by African slaves. 

In the course, the Brazilian modinha, lundu, choro, maxixe, samba, carnival marchinhas, “de fossa” samba, baião, frevo and bossa nova will be examined and exemplified, with original recordings.
