O Continente Shopping gets the exposure Art of Navigation, composed of nine canoes carved from the trunk of guarapuvu, as they were produced decades ago by artisanal fishermen. The event also brings a little of the history of the Indians, the creators of the canoes and the Azorean immigrants, who made adaptations.
The plastic artist and exhibition curator, Lourival Medeiros, resident of san jose, brings two types of canoes that were produced manually: the smooth edge, to be used in calm seas, and the embroidered, which receives a reinforcement on the side to offer more safety to fishermen when breaking the surf in rougher seas. All exposed canoes were carved from the trunk of guarapuvu.
