The photographic exhibition, which is commemorating the 270th anniversary of the Azorean settlement in Santa Catarina, is the result of a photographic marathon called Gestures and People in the Terceirense Carnival which took place during the Carnival of the Azores and was organized by the Presidency of the Regional Government of the Azores through the Regional Directorate for Communities. The proposal for the exhibition was to photograph the Carnival of Terceira Island in the Azores, which is an atypical thing. They invited photographers from Brazil, Canada and the USA to participate in this project, where there is a very strong Azorean immigration. From Brazil, photographers from Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Sul were selected and the third is Joi Cletison, representing Santa Catarina.
