A different look at the cultural heritage and natural beauties of Santa Catarina is the theme of the photographic exhibition “Santa Catarina looks”, which opens for visitation in the Museum of Image and Sound of Santa Catarina (MIS/SC), in Florianópolis, starting this Wednesday, 19th. The exhibition brings together 53 photos selected by the Santa Catarina Federation of Municipalities (Fecam). The space can be visited from Tuesday to Sunday, from 10 am to 21 pm, with free admission.

In the “Olhares Catarinenses” project, the state was divided into eight macro-regions and all of them have images covered. The exhibition presents only unpublished photos and with a difference: made, mostly, by amateurs. The objective of the project, organized by Fecam, with the support of Santur and Fundação Catarinense de Cultura (FCC), is to offer a new photographic collection, both virtual and physical, to show the cultural diversity of Santa Catarina. In total, 564 images were submitted from all over the state.

In addition to involving all 21 associations of Santa Catarina municipalities, the material will be published in a book that will have the best photos. The person responsible for the technical selection is photographer Carlos Antônio Mafalda, who has worked as a photojournalist in the state for 53 years, who emphasized the challenge of selecting photos for the exhibition and for the book. “It was sensational and exciting to follow the work of these photographers, with images that presented great quality and made with the love and heart of the people of Santa Catarina", he said.
