"fantastic portraits" is the artist's first exhibition Carol Krugel and which can be visited for free from March 9 to April 15, 2021, at BADESC Cultural Foundation website. Carol was selected by Public Notice 2020 to exhibit at Espaço Paulo Gaiad, in the First Individual category. However, in-person visitation at the Foundation, suspended until March 14, 2021.
Working mainly with pencil on aged paper, the artist creates portraits of fantastic beings, almost always in an analog process, but sometimes incorporating digital. Starting from old photographs of her family or found in old fairs, Carol researches certain periods of history looking for visual references of clothes, furniture, customs, symbols and types of photography of the period.
And with these references, the artist creates photographs of these characters in this invented ancient world, where they present themselves as precisely historical and at the same time with something unreal. The show features 27 framed graphite illustrations and was curated by Anna Moraes.
