Oktoberfest, now in its 34th edition, is the most famous of Santa Catarina's October festivities. This year, Oktober will be held from October 4th to 22nd. The main focus of the party is the now traditional Parque Vila Germânica, in Bairro da Velha, 2,5 km from the city center, with a space of 39 thousand square meters. The park is made up of three modern pavilions, which offer comfort and safety to revelers. There is also Rua XV de Novembro, which during the 18 days of the festival, becomes the stage for three thousand members, who enchant the public with the official party parade. Typical bands add a special charm to the party by playing traditional German music. In addition to music, more than 20 gastronomic points offer the best of typical German food. The most popular typical dishes are Kassler (pork chop, accompanied by white and red sausage, puree and sauerkraut), Eisben (pork knuckle with puree, sauerkraut and white and red sausages) and Roasted Mallard (duck served with stuffing, rice, red cabbage and mashed potatoes and apples).
